 Psalm 147

It’s a good thing to sing praise to God. Its physically beneficial for you and it sounds beautiful too! This is why we sing :

Because through praise God builds up His church. He gathers all those who are on the edges and brings them in. He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds. Let us praise Him because He is the One who can number the stars and calls each one by name. He is great, mighty, powerful and has limitless understanding. The Lord lifts up the humble and casts the wicked down to the ground.

So sing to The Lord with thanks in your heart, use instruments to praise the God of the seasons and the weather, the rain and the sun. He makes crops grow and provides food for the animals and birds of the earth. He isn’t impressed by the things that impress us - the size of our cars or the physical prowess of the finely honed athlete. No, He is interested in those who respect and love Him, and in those who depend upon His kindness and mercy.

So lets praise Him church! Praise your God all you His people! For He has protected you and blessed you. He has caused peace to be established between you all and He has provided for all your needs. He sends out His Word into the earth and His Word runs swiftly. Its all in His hands; the snow and the frosts, the hailstones He throws down and the freezing cold He blasts – and then He speaks and His word is warm and the breath of His Spirit causes ice to melt and waters to flow again.

He speaks to us, His people and gives us rules by which to live. He has chosen to deal personally with us – we are His people – so many others don’t know Him like we do. So let us be glad and praise Him !
